... one of my laptops at home has slowed down to a crawl over night to the extent that trying to carry out basic housekeeping tasks to help sort it out is impossible.
Is there a short cut/quick way to speed it up.
(nob wiped on screen, too much porn on laptop and other hilarious replies not required)

If your data is backed up then format drive and reinstall - make sure you include anti virus

Ditch it, Morley. The free ones are just as good. I hope they are anyway (I'm sure someone more techy than me will suggest otherwise if that isn't the case). I've used them for years and never had any problems. And I look at all kinds of shit.

The one that's on there expires soon, it's a Kaspersky one. I'm gonna look at new ones i think.

CCleaner is a good shout. You can get it from here, install it, and run it (doesn't have to be in safe mode).

Then try Malwarebyes. Again, install and run.

What anti virus are you using? That could be slowing it down as well. Get rid of it, and get a free one like Avast.

deletes all temp files, cookies, favourites, shit data, copies, all sorts. the site is called piriform but put in ccleaner
does registry shit as well.
